Weekly summary (January 14, 2019 - January 20, 2019): By the end of 2018, Vietnam’s Tra fish export reached approximately $2.3 billion, up by over 20% compared to the same period in 2017. This is the first time in the past 20 years Vietnam’s Tra fish export has achieved such a record number. People who farm edible bird's nest in Tien Giang Province are delighted because of the increasing output of this product. Weekly summary (January 7, 2019 - January 13, 2019): In 2019, the fisheries sector aims to export to the U.S. $10 billion of seafood, an increase of 11% compared to the same period last year. This target was set based on the growth of the export turnover in 2018, which reached nearly $9 billion. In Ba Ria - Vung Tau Province, Dong Tao chicken, hybrid wild boar, and goat are expensive items sold on Lunar New Year. Weekly summary (December 31, 2018 - January 6, 2019): Seafood farming in cages was formed in Phu Yen Province in the 1990s. So far, this technique has developed strongly with about 1,000 hectares of sea surface. The main farming species are lobster and marine fish. With its strengths in aquaculture, in 2018, Bac Lieu Province exported about more than 56,612 tons of seafood, which were about 102.72% of its initial export target.
